The 1991 Parkpre Sledgehammer. This was Parkpre’s high end introduction into mountain biking and they did a beautiful job in designing a elegent frame with a mix of lugged and brazing and a very unique post clamping design with integrated cable guide. This is one of the rarest Parkpre mountain bikes to find. This bike has been considered the “Holy Grail” of Parkpre’s and when I first acquired it I could easily understand why. My love for Parkpre’s has always been the frames from 93-96 with the titanium plating and when I seen pics of the 91 Sledghammer in the past I was never really impressed with the grey paint scheme. Once you see the paint in person it is a whole different story, the grey color is beautiful. The grey has a multi-color pearl metallic glimmer in the sunlight which is simply gorgeous! Another suprising feature I learned was that the decals are under the clear coat which shows the quality level they were going for. I was super lucky to find this bike locally to me thru Craigslist, it was literally 10 miles from my house. The bike was from the original owner and had barely any miles on it. The Panracer Smoke tires still had nipples on them. The bike is basically mint with the exception of the scrape on the fork. Its completely original the way it was purchased with the exception of the chainring setup, seatpost, saddle & pedals. The original owner had the chainrings switched out when he purchased it and I switched out the saddle and pedals. I’m looking for a different seatpost also and going to switch to white cable housing.
